De opkomst, reacties en verkoop op de Breidagen overtrof mijn stoutste verwachtingen. De stemming zat er al snel lekker in, vooral toen vele vrienden langs kwamen. Ook Yuichi Kaneko (Clover) was er om zijn boek en Lekker Warme mok in ontvangst te nemen. Maar waar we zo’n lol om hadden met z’n tweetjes? Bedankt Hanneke Bezem voor deze twee gezellige foto’s! En mijn man Jan voor de rest van de foto’s!

The amount of visitors, reactions and sales in the Breidagen exceeded my wildest expectations. The atmosphore soon was cheerful, especially when many friends came along. Yuichi Kaneko (Clover) was also there to receive his book and So Warm mug. But I can’t  recall what it was that we laughed about. Thanks Hanneke Bezem  for these two nice photos! And my dear husband Jan for the rest of the photos!

Vandaag was de eerste dag dat Lekker Warm! te koop was. De Breidagen in Zwolle, dé feestdagen voor breiend Nederland, waren druk, gezellig en inspirerend. Tineke Beuving – van der Boom uit Beilen kocht het eerste exemplaar en dat heuglijke feit moest natuurlijk worden vereeuwigd. Daarna verkocht ik er nog heel veel meer, zodat ik nu zeer moe, maar vreselijk voldaan thuis zit uit te blazen. Morgen de tweede breidag, als ‘ie maar half zo leuk wordt, dan ben ik al blij!

Ondertussen werd Lekker Warm! ook in op de grote handwerkbeurs in Stockholm voor de eerste keer verkocht door het Ullcentrum. Ook in de Afstap in Amsterdam is vanaf vandaag het boek te koop.

Maar nu eerst een lekker glaasje om deze gewéldige dag te vieren! Proost!!

Today was the first day Nice Warm! was for sale. The Breidagen in Zwolle, festive days for all knitters of the Netherlands, were busy, cozy and inspiring. Tineke Beuving – van der Boom from Beilen bought the first copy and that joyous occasion of course had to be immortalized. After that sale I sold it so much more, so I am now very tired but satisfied at home and totally blown out. Tomorrow the second breidag, as he is only half as nice, then I will be happy too!

Meanwhile Lekker Warm! was also sold in the big craft fair in Stockholm for the first time by the Ullcentrum. Also in the Afstap in Amsterdam the book is available today for sale .

But first a nice glass to celebrate this great day! Cheers !!

Op de Breidagen op 24 en 25 oktober in Zwolle zal Lekker Warm! Twijnend Breien – So Warm! Twined Knitting voor het eerst verkrijgbaar zijn. En nog wel als beursaanbieding voor € 29,50, indien gewenst gesigneerd door mij. Zolang de voorraad strekt, krijg je er ook nog een Lekker Warm-boekenlegger bij. En een Zweeds koekje of chocolaatje…

De tweede dag van ons verblijf op Shetland startte met een heerlijke wandeling over de kliffen van Burra, een schiereiland met bountystrandjes waar je prachtige schelpen kan scoren. In het plaatsje vlakbij het kliffengebied woont Ann Eunson, die superfijne Shetland-shawls en haar eigen tuinhek breide. Daar val je wel mee op tijdens Wool Week, vooral als op een luie zondagmorgen naar buiten stuift om ons te verwelkomen met je pyama onder je jas.

Die dag maakten we nog veel meer mee, maar daarover later meer…

The second day of our stay on Shetland started with a nice walk on the cliffs of Burra, a peninsula with bountyful beaches where you can find beautiful shells. In the village near the cliffs area Ann Eunson lives. She has knitted superfine Shetland shawls and her own garden gate. That attracts attention during Wool Week, especially when you welcome visitors with your pyjama’s under your coat on a lazy Sunday morning.

That day we made experienced a lot more, but more on that later…

Shetland Wool Week 2014! Op dag 1 ligt alles nog voor je…

Shetland Wool Week 2014! On day one, everything is still to come…

Het zit er weer op, Shetland Wool Week 2014, en het was gewéldig! In de komende tijd zal ik jullie er alles over vertellen op Life ‘n Knitting.

Elsbeth en ik schreven deze tekst in het zand van het strand van Saint Ninian’s Island en plaatsten onze handen in het zand, links die van mij, rechts die van Elsbeth.

It is over, Shetland Wool Week 2014, and it was great! In the near future, I will tell you everything about it on Life ‘n Knitting.

Elsbeth and I have written this text in the sand of the beach of Saint Ninian’s Island and then we have put our hands in the sand, on the left mine, on the right Elsbeth’s hand.

Mijn koffer staat klaar, de Shwook is gebreid en ik heb er zin in! Tien dagen lekker met zes vriendinnen naar de jaarlijkse Wool Week in Shetland. Iedere dag activiteiten als wolfabrieken bekijken, wol shoppen en vooral veel workshops. Een heerlijke afwisseling na het harde werken voor heb boek Lekker Warm! dat op 24 oktober wordt gepubliceerd.

Wat een Shwook is? Hazel Tindall ontwierp speciaal voor Wool Week een prachtige muts met Shetland-motiefjes. Ze voegde diverse kleurencombinaties toe, maar de meeste breiers zijn eigenwijs en breien hun eigen variatie. Ik ben zo benieuwd naar al die mutsen die iedereen zal dragen tijdens de openingsceremonie!

En groot nieuws, letterlijk en figuurlijk vers van de pers,… Lekker Warm!, mijn boek over twijnend breien is klaar! Alvast 30 dozen met 300 van de 2000 exemplaren staan nu in mijn berging. Natuurlijk gaan er een paar mee naar Shetland.

My suitcase is ready, the Shwook is knitted and I’m looking forward to the next ten days! I will spend these ten days with six girlfriends at the annual Wool Week in Shetland. Every day activities like  visiting wool mills, wool shopping and a lot of workshops. A delightful change from the hard work for have book SoWarm! that will be published on 24 October.

What is a Shwook? Hazel Tindall designed specifically for Wool Week a beautiful hat with Shetland motifs. She added various color combinations, but most knitters are stubborn and knit their own variation. I am so curious about all those hats that everyone will wear during the opening ceremony!

And great news, literally hot off the press,… So Warm!, my book on twined knitting is ready! About 30 boxes with 300 of the 2000 copies are now standing in my hall. Of course, I will take a couple of them with me to Shetland.
