Het leven gaat door, en zo ook het breien. Want breien helpt in moeilijke tijden.

Al dat gebrei leverde in dik een maand tijd een enorme traditioneel gebreide Haapsalu shawl op. Knitted Knots leverde er prachtige wol met zijde voor (Knitty Silk) in een diep donkerblauw. Een koninklijke kleur voor de Crown Prince uit The Haapsalu Shawl. Ooit werd het patroon ontworpen voor een shawl die werd aangeboden aan Gustave, kroonprins van Zweden, vandaar de naam. Zo promootten de Esten hun breitraditie en en passant verrijkten ze zo de voorraad schitterende patronen.

Het materiaal is lekker stevig, dus de shawl kan naar hartelust worden gedragen. Misschien neem ik ‘m wel mee naar Estland in juni……

Al that knitting led in a bit more as a month to an enormous traditionally knitted shawl. The beautiful silk with wool (Knitty Silk) in deep dark blue is for sale at Knitted Knots. A royal colour for the Crown Prince from The Haapsalu Shawl. In the past the pattern was designed for a shawl that was presented to Gustave, crown prince of Sweden, hence the name. That way the Estonian people promoted their knitting tradition and by doing so enhanced the stash of magnificent patterns.

The material is strong, so the shawl can be worn comfortably. Maybe I will take it to Estonia in June……
