Ooit won ik een magnetron omdat ik een vraag over paprika’s goed had. Multiple choice: hoeveel kleuren paprika’s zijn er? Antwoorden: a) één kleur b) drie kleuren of c) zeven kleuren. Ik wist er vier, dus koos antwoord c en vertrok met de eerste prijs, een magnetron, best leuk voor een studentje.
Years ago I won a microwave because I knew the answer to a question about pepers. Multiple choice: how many colours can a peper be? Answers: a) one colour b) three colours or c) seven colours. I knew four colours, so I choose this answer and left with the first price, a microwave, very nice for a student.
Dinsdag vierde ik het één-jarig jubileum met Stitch ‘n Bitch Amsterdam Noord mee. Een tafel met tegen de twintig gezellige breiers en vol lekkere hapjes en drankjes. Wendel had een wedstrijd bedacht. En ja hoor, weer multiple choice. Met rode en groene kaartjes voor de antwoorden. Ik had meteen associaties met rode en groene paprika’s. En alsof de duvel ermee speelde bleef ik na twee (!) vragen over als winnaar. Ik vond het haast sneu voor de harde kern van SnB Amsterdam Noord en stribbelde tegen, tot ik de prijzen zag……. een Spin Off met iets over Estonia én een werkelijk gruwelijk mooie knot wol. Wendel, een groot kreatief talent, had zelf de alpaca tot prachtig 3-ply garen gesponnen en geverfd in blauwe-paarse tinten. Sokken? Een muts? Ik weet het nog niet en heb ‘m voorlopig maar even op de tv (nee, nog geen flatscreen) te pronk gelegd.
Tuesday I celebrated the one year anniversary with Stitch ‘n Bitch Amsterdam Noord. A table with almost twenty nice knitters and lots of drinks and food. Wendel made up a game. Yes, again multiple choice. With red and green cards for the answers. I had to think about red and green pepers right away. And to everyone’s surprise it took me only two questions (!) to win the game. Such a pity for the incrowd of SnB Amsterdam Noord and told them I refused the price and do the game again, until I saw the prices…… a Spin Off with an article about Estonia ánd a really nice ball of wool. Wendel, a great creative talent, had spun the alpace herself into a beautiful 3-ply yarn and handdyed it in blue-purple colours. Socks? A hat? I don’t know yet and for now placed it on the television (no, not a flatscreen) to enjoy it.
Toen ik rond half 12 thuis kwam, liet ik ‘m aan man Jan zien. Prachtig vind ‘ie ‘m. Maar hij gelooft nog steeds niet dat de regelmatige mooie draad niet uit de winkel komt.
When Ik returned home at midnight I showed it to DH Jan. Wonderful, he said, but until now doesn’t believe that this beautiful yarn is handspun.
Nog meer mooie alpaca vond ik bij De Afstap. Ze hebben één van mijn favoriete kantgarens binnen. Eindelijk kan ik alle kleuren van Misti Alpace Lace Weight zien, want ze hebben ze allemaal besteld. De supersterke getwijnde alpaca goed te blocken. Met circa 400 meter per bolletje brei je van twee bolletjes al een shawl. Om de prijs hoef je het niet te laten, slechts 7,95 betaal je voor deze prachtige kwaliteit. In de Feestweek (vandaag en ook morgen, zondag, kan je nog terecht) krijg je ook nog eens 35% (!) korting. Gekker moet het niet worden, maar ik maakte er dankbaar gebruik van en koos drie geweldige kleuren!
More high quality alpaca I found at De Afstap. They now sell one of my favorite lace yarns. Finally I can see all colours of Misti Alpace Lace Weight, as they ordered them all. The super strong twined alpaca can be blocked well. With 437 yards per ball you only need two balls to knit a shawl. The price is low, only 7,95 euro for this suberb quality. In the Feestweek (today and tomorrow, Sunday they are open too) you get another 35% (!) discount. Great, I was glad to choose three lovely colours!
