Imagine it, a sunlit forest in the Latvian Open Air Museum filled with fragrant Latvian delicacies, baskets, ceramics and a lot of textiles. Lots of colorful stands where hand knitted stuff, especially many mittens, gloves and beadwork were sold. I hardly knew where to begin to try to see everything and don’t miss anything interesting. And everywhere people in costumes and children with traditional Latvian socks and flowers on their head.

I didn’t find any yarn I liked, but that was more than compensated by the huge amounts of beautiful hand knitting. Handicraft items made with love that were offered for to our standards low prices. The atmosphere in the market was, thanks to the sunny weather, absolutely wonderful. A great final of eight unforgettable days in Latvia. Thanks to this trip I now have an image of the country and Riga, met old friends and made new friends and I became deeply impressed by the trades and crafts that are made by the Latvian people. In the next blog about Latvia more about the people I met on the market.

Elsbeth and Titia both made a picture for this blog, thank you!
