Monika in the Textile Museum

Het Textiel Museum Audax in Tilburg is iets bijzonders. Monika mocht het natuurlijk niet missen tijdens haar verblijf in Nederland. Ik heb het allemaal weer mogen bewonderen. De wolfabriek, het Textiellab, de collecties en een leuke tentoonstelling over hoe een schapenvachtje kan transformeren in een lekkere wollen trui. In dit museum vind je ook de leukste museumshop die ik ken. De collectie spullen bestaat voor een groot deel uit prachtige en bijzondere textiel en boeken over textiel. Je blijft er nieuwe leuke dingen ontdekken en gaat er nooit met lege handen weg.
The Audax Textile Museum is very special. Of course Monika had to see this museum during her stay in The Netherlands. I had the opportunity to admire it all again. The wool factory, the Textile Lab, the collections, plus a nice exhibition about how a sheep fleece can transform into a nice woollen jumper. This museum also has the nicest museum shop I know. The collection consists for a large part of beautiful and special textile objects and books about textile. You keep discovering nice new things and never leave empty-handed.
Van een vorig bezoek herinnerde ik mij de handschoenenbreimachine, waar een complete handschoen uitrolt waarvan alleen het randje hoeft te worden omgezoomd. Erg leuk voor Monika, want zij heeft zelf een sokkenbreimachine waarmee ze heel creatieve dingen doet. De handschoenenbreimachine stond eerst uit, maar gelukkig vonden we een vriendelijk meneer van het lab die het apparaat aanzette, zodat Monika het proces kon volgen. Tot slot mocht ze zelfs de handschoenen meenemen die uit de machine kwamen rollen.
I remember from a previous visit the glove-knitting machine that knits an entire glove of which only the cuff needs to be finished. Very nice for Monika because she owns a sock-knitting machine with which she produces very creative objects. The glove-knitting machine was initially turned off, but fortunately we found a kind sir working in the lab and he turned on the machine so that Monika could see the production process. At the end she was even allowed to take the gloves that tumbled from the machine.

I thought I lost/left the mittens in Holland somewhere- your or Hillys house but found them in one of small bags in my suitcase. They are very nice mittens and I already have plans how to meke them more colorful 🙂
This textile muesum is a greate place. I wish we has something like that here in Estonia. Thanks for taking me there 🙂

I still remember how the man who put the glove machine on, told me that they have atleast few (that in my mind is more than 2) absolutely new sock machines in storage. age about 100 years and noone has used them. Oh, think me drooling. I would love to have 1 😀
