Titia bracht van haar reis naar het hoge Noorden wanten met de kleuren en patronen van de Sami in Rovanimie-techniek voor me mee uit het Siida museum in Finland. Ik was altijd al erg nieuwsgierig hoe deze techniek er in het echt uitziet en nu heb ik een voorbeeld.

Een flink gewicht in haar koffer vormde het prachtige boek over de textiele cultuur van de Sami dat ze ook voor me meenam. In de patronen in dit boek zie ik overeenkomsten met de kleurrijke randen in de kousen van Kihnu en met de rozetten uit de zooltjes op IJsland.

Dank je Titia, voor al je gesjouw, je fanatieke zoektocht naar mooie beelden uit de wolwinkels en het activeren van een bus vol reisgenoten om te waarschuwen voor elk stukje gebreid textiel dat ze tegen kwamen!

Titia brought from her trip to the far North mittens with the colors and patterns of the Sami in Rovanimie technique for me from Siida museum in Finland. I was always very curious about how this technology looks in knitting, and now I have an example.

A considerable weight in her suitcase was the wonderful book about the textile culture of the Sami that she also brought back for me. In the patterns in this book, I see similarities with colorful borders in Kihnu stockings and the rosettes of the soles in IJsland.

Titia Thank you for bringing this heavy load, you fanatical quest for beautiful images from the yarn shops and activating a bus full of fellow travelers to warn you for every piece of knitted fabric that they came across!
