Life 'n Knitting

Scandinavië is trend. Trokken we vroeger massaal naar het zuiden om de zon in la douce France op te zoeken, tegenwoordig is het veel hipper om naar het noorden te reizen. En daar wordt flink op ingespeeld. Geen avond zonder Zweedse detective op tv of reisprogramma’s over Stockholm, Oslo en de Baltische staten en Ikea is nog populairder dan het al was. Afgelopen weekend werd in Haarlem de beurs Scandinavië XL gehouden. Waar? Bij een autodealer van het Zweedse merk Volvo!

Scandinavia is trendy. We used to go south to the sun in la douce France for holidays, nowadays it is much more in fashion to travel to the north. Lots of shops and organisation see that and respond to this demand. No evening without Swedish detective on TV or travel programs about Stockholm , Oslo and the Baltic States and Ikea is even more popular than it already was. Last weekend was the fair Scandinavië XL held in Haarlem . Where? In the building of a car dealer of the Swedish brand Volvo!

Het was een gezellige beurs met veel standjes met Scandinavische lekkernijen, reisaanbiedingen en mode. Ook Baltic Basic, het merk met onder andere shawls, truien en vesten van de Estlandse ontwerpster Riini Tomberg en Inti was er. Ik kocht er een prachtige stola van suede met haakwerk. Jan en ik sloten de dag af met een winkelmiddagje in de mooie binnenstad van Haarlem. Thuis weer aan het werk voor mijn boek over de Scandinavische techniek twijnend breien. Veel te doen, ieder steekje is er één.

It was a great fair with lots of stand with Scandinavian treats, travel deals and fashion. Also Baltic Basic, the brand which imports shawls, sweaters and vests of the designer  Estonian Riini Tomberg and Inti was there. I bought a beautiful shawl of suede with crocheted edgings. Jan and I ended the day with a shopping spree in the beautiful city of Haarlem. Then back home, knitting and working on my book on the Scandinavian technique twined knitting. Lots to do, stitch after stitch.
