Nelleke die er al geweest was, zei het al, Karnaluks is gigantisch. Al onze Nederlandse wolwinkeltjes passen er met gemak in. De garens liggen in gestapelde dozen tot het plafond en als er ooit een naar beneden komt, zal het een zachte dood betekenen voor de breier die er toevallig onder staat. En dan de prijzen, typisch Ests, zullen we maar zeggen.
Nelleke was there before us and she already told us, Karnaluks is gigantic. All our Dutch yarn shops fit easely in this huge space. The yarn is piled up in boxes up to the ceiling and if at any time one of the boxes falls down it might give a knitter who happens to be on the spot at that moment a easy death. And the prices are, let’s say, typical Estonian.
De winkel is officieel een groothandel. De BTW komt er nog eens bij, maar wie meer dan tien bollen van hetzelfde koopt, krijgt extra korting. De grote ruimte is verstopt in een gewone straat in een buitenwijk in een appartementengebouw. Na twee trapjes leidt een onbeduidend bordje naar het wolparadijs. We kochten er Haapsalu-garen, sokkengaren, Estlands garen zonder labeltje, knopen, stoffen en Estlands band. Alle items worden vlot afgerekend door verkopers waar ik bewondering voor heb, snel en efficient worden de prijzen meest uiteenlopende artikelen razendsnel opgezocht. Moet je mij zien bij de Afstap…… 😉
The shop is officially a wholesale dealer. The tax is added afterwards, but who buys more then ten bolls of the same yarn, gets an extra discount. The big space is hidden in a normal street in a suburb in an appartment building. Two staires lead to a small sign to the wool paradise. We bought Haapsalu yarn, sock yarn, Estonian yarn without a label, buttons, fabric and Estonian ribbon. We paid your items at the counter, where sales personal with skills I admire, look up the prices in no time. So much quicker as I do my work as a salesgirl at the Afstap……. 😉
