Vandaag trokken Corrie en ik erop uit om de wolwinkels in de omgeving te bezoeken. Eerst naar de Schapekop in Nieuwpoort waar Gretha en Carina ons hartelijk ontvingen met koffie en koopjes. Corrie schafte Noro bouclé, zwarte met een beetje witte mohair en sokkenwol aan. En omdat het zo’n speciaal dagje voor haar was toch ook maar dat mooie Sarah Dallas-boek. Ik vulde mijn voorraad Alice Starmore 2ply aan met wat prachtige kleurtjes. Toen door naar Oudewater waar we bij De Distel praktische wolbeschermers kochten in babyroze. Daar vond ik ook de dikke ongetwijnde roomwitte wol voor pennen 10 voor de Snail Hat van Elizabeth Zimmermann. De eigenaresse vertelde over de Distel Outlet in Montfoort waar we natuurlijk ook naar toe wilden. Na een speurtocht op het industrieterrein vonden we de outlet in een schuur. Rijen vol met dozen wol voor een prikkie. Veel synthetisch, maar ook wat prachtige bolletjes die we niet konden weerstaan. Puddle voor maar een eurootje per stuk, linnen voor een hesje of een tas en zelfs dieppaarse superwash wol. Corrie nam toch maar de laatste bollen in chique bruin mee. En nog veel meer…..
Today Corrie and I enjoyed a day out in the surroundings of Utrecht where we visited some yarn shops. First the Schapekop where Gretha and Carina welcomed us with coffee and bargains. Corrie bought some Noro bouclé, black and white mohair and sock wool. And because it was such a special day for her, she treated herself on a beautiful book written by Sarah Dallas. I completed my stash Alice Starmore wool with some beautiful colours. Then we went to Oudewater where we bought practical wool protectors in baby pink. There I also found the thick single ply wool white for needles 10 mm voor de Snail Hat of Elizabeth Zimmermann. The owner of the shop told us about the Distel Outlet in Montfoort. Of course we wanted to go there too. After a search mission on the industrial zone we found the outlet in an barn. Rows of boxes filled with wool for next to nothing. A lot was synthetic, but we also found some beautiful balls that we couldn’t resist. Puddle for just an euro, linen for a vest or bag and even deep purple superwash wool. Corrie took in the nick of time the last balls of a posh braun colour. And a lot more……
