In Nederland hebben we een nieuwe koning. Willem-Alexander nam op 30 april 2013 deze taak over van zijn moeder Beatrix. Tijdens de kroonswisseling droeg zijn vrouw Máxima een diepblauwe jurk en cape, bezet met kristalletjes. Wát een kleur! Ik was verliefd en verdronk in dat prachtige blauw.
We have a new king in the Netherlands. Willem-Alexander took over from his mother Beatrix on 30 April 2013. During the inauguration his wife Máxima wore a deep blue dress and cape with cristals. Such a wonderful colour! Is was in love with it and drowned in all the bright blue.
Garen zó prachtig blauw is moeilijk te vinden. En dan moet het ook nog net het draadje zijn waar je iets moois mee kan maken. Ik had geluk, twee weken geleden kregen we bij de Afstap in Amsterdam dozen vol Cardiff cashmere van topkwaliteit binnen. Ook in deze fantastische kleur blauw! Ik heb meteen een doos meegenomen en ben er nu een warme Orenburg-shawl van aan het breien. Een feest om mee te breien…
It is difficult to find yarn that blue. And then you also have to be so lucky that you want to knit with it. I had such luck, as two weeks ago we received an order at the Afstap in Amsterdam of Cardiff cashmere of very high quality. Also this awesome colour blue! So I took a box and now I’m knitting a warm Orenburg shawl. I love to knit with it…

That blue was beautiful, on the three generations of ladies at the ceremony. I must say that seeing Maxima in that extraordinary tiara mad me realize how solid Beatrix’s hair is. I mean no disrespect to now-princess Beatrix, but I’d never really appreciated the sapphires when she wore that crown.
