We gaan weer! Met een aantal van mijn breivrienden ben ik vanochtend voor maar liefst negen dagen naar Estland vertrokken. Monika, steun en toeverlaat in Estland en onze lieve vriendin, heeft weer een superleuk en vol programma voor ons bedacht. Dit keer gaan we naar Tartu om daar de conferentie over klederdrachten bij te wonen, dan naar Seto aan de Russische grens, vervolgens naar Viljandi voor een workshop van Kristi Jõeste en het Heimlati museum en dan weer terug naar Tallinn. In Tartu wacht ons ook nog een diner met veel van de deelnemers in dracht, maar behalve Anke die in Gelders kostuum zal verschijnen, gaan de meeste anderen dat wat ludieker oplossen. Hoe, je zal het hier zien…

There we go again! With some of my knitting friends I left for Estonia this morning for a nine day stay. Our dear friend Monika, who helps us to arrange our activities in Estonia, has put together a real good and quite full program for us. This time we go to Tartu for a conference on folk costumes, then we go to Seto near the Russian border, then to Viljandi for a workshop by Kristi Jõeste and the Heimlati Museum and finally back to Tallinn. In Tartu we will also have a nice diner with lots of the participants in their costumes, but except for Anke in her costume from Gelderen we will do something with our appearance but will not tell you what now. Inmiddels loop ik structureel achter met bloggen, al vanaf Mardilaat in november 2011. Ik heb jullie gewoon zoveel te vertellen, maar bloggen met veel foto’s neemt zoveel tijd. Dit vind ik daarom wel een goed moment om even een stukje in te halen en jullie te trakteren op kleurrijke foto’s van de drachtenparade tijdens de conferentie in Tallinn na Mardilaat. Herkennen jullie de Kihnu-dracht met de streepjesrokken? Gelukkig voor ons als breiers zijn gebreide elementen onmisbare in de klederdrachten. De spreekster uit Kihnu liet mij haar kousen fotograferen en legde uit dat die veel lekkerder dragen met een zachte panty eronder. De gigantische zilveren borstornamenten horen bij de dracht uit Seto. Die gaan we vast nog meer zien als we in het gebied zelf zijn.

Since Mardilat in November 2011 I’m hopelessly behing with blogging. I just have so much to tell you about, but blogging with lots of photos takes a lot of time. This is the moment for catching up on things a bit, so I will treat you on some colourful photos of the costumes shown on the conference in Tallinn after Mardilaat. Do you recognise the Kihnu costumes with the striped skirts? Fortunately for us as knitters knitted items are often part of the costumes. The speaker from Kihnu let me photograph her stockings and explained that they are much more comfortable with a soft panty under them. The gigantic silver breast ornaments belong to the costumes of Seto. We will surely see more of them when we are there.
