The Haapsula Shawl
Als je volhardt in het verkeerd uitspreken van een Estlandse plaatsnaam, te weten Haapsalu, kan je verwachten dat anderen het een keer zat worden je te verbeteren. Ze noemen dan gewoon een shawl ernaar. Zo is er nu dus een Haapsula Shawl, ontworpen door onze Monika en deels rondgebreid op haar sokkenmachientje en deels handgebreid door haar. En het is een prachtige shawl geworden! Ik kreeg er een cadeau van Monika toen ze hier in April een paar dagen was. Dank je wel lieve meid!
When you persist in a wrong pronounciation of the name of a village in Estonia, you can expect that others will stop correcting you some time. They just use it as a name of a shawl. So now there is a shawl called the Haapsula Shawl, designed by our Monika. She knitted it partly on her sock machine and partly by hand. And it turned out beautifully! I got one as a present from Monika when she spent a few days in Holland in April. Thank you dear Monika!
