Life 'n Knitting

Onze Monika moest, toen ze een vorige maand hier was, natuurlijk ook een paar echte goeie wolwinkels zien. De Afstap en de Schapekop in Nieuwpoort vallen zeker in deze categorie. Na ons bezoek aan het Audax Textielmuseum in Tilburg reden we eerst naar Nieuwpoort, waar we zalig lunchten op het terras midden in het schattige dorpje. Voor alle duidelijkheid, Hil is op de foto weer aan het uitleggen wat een kroketje is.

Of course our Monika had to see some real good yarn shops while she was here last month. The Afstap and the Schapekop in Nieuwpoort definitely fall within this category. After our visit to the Audax Textielmuseum in Tilburg we drove to Nieuwpoort, where we had a delicious lunch at the terrace of a nice restaurant in the centre of the lovely little town. So as to leave no doubt, in the picture Hil is again explaining what a ‘kroket’´is.

Een bezoek aan de Schapekop is altijd een feest. Eigenaar Carina gaat voor kwalitatief goeie materialen en ontwerpers en dat zie je meteen. De goed verzorgde winkel verleidt je al snel tot een aantal aankopen die je van te voren nog niet bedacht had. Mijn gehaakte shawl hing er in andere kleuren, ook heel mooi. We hebben er lekker rondgeneusd en verlieten met ieder een mooi Schapekoptasje de winkel weer. Fotootje op het bordes en òp naar de volgende wolwinkel!

A visit to the Schapekop is always a party. Owner Carina opts for quality materials and good designers and that is very evident. The well-equipped shop soon tempts you to make a couple of purchases you hadn’t thought of beforehand. My crocheted shawl was displayed there in other colours, also very beautiful. We enjoyed browsing around and all left the shop with a nice Schapekop-bag. A quick photo in front of the shop and off we were, on our way to the next yarn shop!
