Life 'n Knitting

Je moet er even naar zoeken, maar aan de rand van het centrum, in het stadsdeel Rotermanni, vind je dat Loovala. Dit kreatief centrum met inloopateliers, herbergt diverse ambachtslieden en kunstenaars. De directe omgeving is prachtig vormgegeven, de architectuur van oude en nieuwe gebouwen loopt vloeiend in elkaar over. Met de trottoirs is een geintje uitgehaald, feitelijk levensgevaarlijk en in Nederland vast verboden. Monika heeft er met veel liefde mooie plantenbakken voor getimmerd, die het geheel een lekker mediterraan sfeertje geven. Met goed weer dan.

You have to search for it, but at the border of the center of Tallinn, in the neighbourhood Rotermanni, you will find Loovala. This creative center with open studio, houses several crafters and artists. The surroundings are beautiful, old and new buildings are well balanced. They played tricks with the sidewalks, really very dangerous in fact and in the Netherlands this would probably be prohibited. Monika made nice flower pots for it, so the street looks  a bit mediterranean. When the weather is nice.

Monika’s atelier in Loovala is vrijwel geheel garen- en breigericht. Haar gezellige hoekje bevindt zich tussen een zilversmid en een kunstenares die liever op hout dan op stof borduurt. Een bak met haar handgesponnen garens kan je bijna niet voorbij lopen. Ministers op doortocht door de ateliers tekenden haar schoolbordwand. Alles straalt kreativiteit uit en nodigt uit om mee te doen. Hier vonden we een plekje voor onze workshop Twijnend Breien en de workshop van Tiina Meeri. Het enige nadeel van Loovala is de lokatie, veel te dicht bij de chocoladewinkel Kalev……

Monika’s studio is focussed on knitting and yarn. Her cosy corner is located between a silver smith and an artist that likes it more to embroider on wood then textile. The case with handspun yarn can’t be ignored. Ministers that visited the center signed Monika’s black board. All radiates creativity and invites to join in. Here we found a place for your workshop Twined Knitting and the workshop of Tiina Meeri. The only disadvantage of Loovala is the location, much to close to the big chocolate shop Kalev……
