Een paar maanden geleden bracht Henriëtte Beukers, bekend door onder meer Handwerken zonder Grenzen, het tweede deel van Rondom Textiel uit. Minstens net zo eigenwijs als ik, brengt ze haar boeken ook in eigen beheer uit. De dikke pil deel 2 bevat dit keer ook veel informatie over de bijzondere breisels uit haar collectie. Zo legt zij haar kennis vast over de textiele objecten die haar dierbaar zijn.
Het boek had ik al een poosje in huis. Het is heerlijk om er af en toe een stukje in te lezen. Op de Textieldag van de Kostuumvereniging waar Jan en ik lid van zijn, kocht ik een paar sokken van Henriëtte, waarschijnlijk afkomstig uit Bulgarije. Lekker stevig gebreid en versierd met mooie kleurrijke motieven aan de hiel en teen.
Lees over gebreide tapijten, breiplanken, antieke breischedes en nosterpinnen, allerlei sokken, wanten, handschoenen en mutsen, breiwerk uit Peru en twijnend breien. Hierbij vermeld Henriëtte ook mijn boek over twijnend breien Lekker Warm!, waar ik erg trots op ben.
Hopelijk zet Henriëtte nog even door en komt ook deel 3 uit de serie Rondom Textiel uit. Deze boeken zijn de bijzonderste en onder de meest waardevolle die ik bezit. De oplage is niet onbeperkt, dus laat de kans om deze schat aan informatie aan te schaffen niet schieten. Deze boeken worden beslist collector’s items.
A few months ago Henriette Beukers, famous for among other activities her role in the creation of the magazine Handwerken zonder Grenzen, published the second part of Rondom Textiel. At least just as stubborn as I am, she also is a selfpublisher. The thick book part 2 also contains much information on the special knitwear in her collection. By writing the books she captures her knowledge on the textile objects that are dear to her.
I have the book for a while now. It’s so nice to read a bit now and then. During the Textieldag of the Kostuumvereniging (Costum Society) where Jan and I are members, I bought a pair of socks from Henriette, probably from Bulgaria. Pretty solid knitted and decorated with beautiful colorful motifs at the heel and toe.
Read about knitted rugs, knitting looms, antique knitting belts and nosterpinnen, all kinds of socks, mittens, gloves and hats, knitwear from Peru and twined knitting. Henriette mentioned my book about twined knitting So Warm!, which makes me feel really proud.
Hopefully Henriette will continue writing part 3 of the series Rondom Textiel. These books are the most outstanding and among the most valuable that I own. There are not unlimited of the book printed, so don’t let the opportunity slip to buy this wealth of information. In time these books definitely in time will become collector’s items.
