Life 'n Knitting

Utrecht centrum is een wolwinkel rijker. Naast het vertrouwde Modilaine op de Lijnmarkt met als hoofdmerken Rowan and Lana Grossa, is er nu in de Telingstraat (vlakbij het Hoogt en de vrouwenboekhandel Savannah) Sticks & Cups bijgekomen. Het winkeltje is pas een week geleden geopend en ik moest er natuurlijk meteen een kijkje gaan nemen.

Eigenaar Lili, zelf gepassioneerd breier/spinner, vertelt honderduit over hoe ze haar droomwinkeltje heeft opgezet en verder vorm gaat geven. De wanden zijn bedekt met strakke witte kasten met bolletjes garen, zo op het gezicht net de bollenvelden in het Westland. Het meeste wat je er ziet is Scheepjes, maar ook diverse soorten IJslandse Lopi. Lili koopt het liefst van iedere kwaliteit alle kleuren in, want dan heeft de klant tenminste wat te kiezen. Binnenkort komt er ook wisselend aanbod van diverse handververs, want Lili vindt het belangrijk dat klanten ook die garens, die je vaak alleen via internet kan bestellen, kunnen zien en voelen. En met garens alleen kom je er niet als breier, dus er zijn ook breinaalden van Knitpro en Hya Hya te koop. Een gezellig fris winkeltje, waar je zeker even binnen moet stappen. De koffie en thee staat klaar!

Utrecht center recently got another yarn shop. In addition to the wellknown Modilaine on Lijnmarkt whose main brands are Rowan and Lana Grossa, there is now Sticks & Cups in the Telingstraat (near cinema the Hoogt and woman bookstore Savannah). The shop has opened only a week ago and I immediately wanted to take a look.

Owner Lili, a passionated knitter / spinner, loves to tells about how she has set up her dream shop and her plans for it in the future. The walls are covered with fresh looking white cabinets with balls of yarn, resembling the bulb fields in the Westland. Most of what you see is Scheepjes, but also various qualities of Icelandic Lopi. Lili likes to buy every quality in all colors, because in her opinion it is important that the customer can choose. Soon there will be also changing selection of various hand dyers, because Lili wants to give her customers the chance to see and feel those yarns, which often only can be ordered via the Internet. And with yarns alone you can knit, so there are needles for sale from Knitpro and Hya Hya. A nice, fresh shop where you definitely just have to step inside. The coffee and tea is ready!
